In my business, we talk a lot about changing unwanted habits, achieving goals, and living the life you’ve dreamed about. That’s all well and good, but is there another way? What does it really mean to be spiritual? To be living on purpose and being your true self? Perhaps the ego/mind is confused about what that means. Is it possible that by letting go of goals and dreams, and accepting where we are, that we realize Who we are? That we begin to see the abundance and beauty that we already have? Surrender and gratitude: the secret to happiness right now. Acceptance sets us free, and gratitude fills up all the empty holes of what we think is missing in our lives. Think about how most of the world lives, and then reconsider if what you have and what you are is “not enough.”
If you get everything you want, do you think your ego will be satisfied? Its nature is to be fearful and unsatisfied. You just can’t get “there” from the egoic state of mind. On the other hand, if you practice acceptance and gratitude for what you already have, you get to experience pleasure and fulfillment in this moment. Instant gratification! Don’t you love it? Live in a state of trust and grace and you get to be perfect right now. What a relief to just let go, and stop trying to change everything. And to just enjoy where you are in your life’s journey. This is what it means to have “expanded consciousness.” With full attention in the moment, the colors are brighter, the mind is calm, and the heart sings.
Something to ponder: is it time to re-commit to goals in your life? Or perhaps it’s time to sit back and relax, and appreciate the blessings you already experience.
